LABORATORY MANAGER

SUMMARY

Reporting to the Hospital Manager and the Laboratory Director on clinical matters, the Laboratory Manager will lead and manage the pathology department of the Bon Secours Hospital, Glasnevin and will be responsible for the strategic approach to the development of services and structures.  

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Laboratory Manager will work with local management colleagues across all departments to support all key functions of the organisation at both an operational and strategic level. Coverage will include but not necessarily be limited to: operations management of the Laboratory Medicine Service, people and performance management, business and workforce planning, policy implementation, continuous learning and organisational development, project and change management, compliance with relevant ISO, JCI and HIQA standards, blood and medical directives, quality control, risk management and financial management of Laboratory services. 

The Laboratory Manager, working in conjunction with the Local Management Team, and other pathology resources across the Bon Secours Health System, will play a key role in shaping, influencing and implementing the future direction of the pathology department. 

REQUIREMENTS

It is expected that applicants will be educated to MSc and BSc level in Biomedical Science or hold a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences.  As Laboratory Manager, applicants will have at least seven years’ experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Scientist, along with two years’ spent at a management level.  Applicants will have a broad knowledge of Laboratories and an excellent understanding of the role of Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Clinical Director in the provision of a high quality Laboratory Medicine Service.  Experience within pathology is an essential requirement. In particular, applicants must have solid experience of operations management, people and performance management, business and workforce planning, policy implementation and quality control, risk and financial management in pathology services.  Excellent interpersonal skills, energy, enthusiasm, problem solving capability in addition to the capacity to generate new ideas and manage sensitive situations are key requirements of the role.

SALES & MARKETING DIRECTOR

Principal Connections has been retained to recruit for the Senior Executive post of Sales & Marketing Director on behalf of a prominent international Leisure, Travel and Tourism Company with offices in Ireland.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Sales & Marketing Director will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team responsible for the strategic growth of the Corporate and Retail channels, identifying new business opportunities and managing Sales and Marketing efforts for the Irish operations.   

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal responsibilities inherent within this tremendous role will include: directing the company Sales and Marketing strategy towards profitable growth and operations of the company; overseeing the Sales department, developing and implementing Sales strategies, gathering performance data, creating reports for senior management and shareholders to provide strategic advice and direction to the business; effectively managing the commercial development activities; and leading the planning and implementation of business marketing and growth strategies.  

REQUIREMENTS

This is a highly demanding but rewarding post, which requires exceptional strategic vision, outstanding leadership, as well as sound commercial development, finance transformation and management abilities.  The appointee will be responsible for empowering and developing the inherent experience that exists within the business and operating as a key member of a successful Senior Leadership Team. 

Suitably qualified and interested candidates will be experienced in operating at Sales & Marketing Senior Manager / Director Levels within the Leisure, Travel, Tourism or Consumer sectors.  In depth experience of developing and implementing Sales and Marketing strategies.  In addition, candidates will have proven ability to manage and lead the strategic, commercial and financial activities of such an organisation.  Proven track record of driving the top line sales growth and improving results month by month. 

The Sales & Marketing Director will be a results orientated individual who possesses excellent leadership, relationship building, and business development, strategic, financial and commercial acumen.  

LOCATION

The position is Dublin based with limited travel throughout the European Union as required.
