The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) is the largest, voluntary, charitable organisation on the Island of Ireland with extensive experience of working with a diverse range of people who experience poverty and exclusion. Through its extensive network of volunteers and members it is strongly committed to working for social justice and advocates the creation of a more just and caring society. SVP employs over 650 people to support volunteers in a variety of settings including social housing, community care, shops, administration, and other specialist areas.

THE POSITION

Reporting to the National President, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) oversees and coordinates the delivery of the overall strategic and operational plans of the Society. Responsible for implementing the Society's strategy (2024-2028), the CEO has responsibility for the day-to-day management of the organisation, including staffing matters and the discharge of executive functions. They also have a specific responsibility to advise elected members in the determination of policy in accordance with charity regulations, good governance, and associated legislation.

The key purpose of this senior strategic leadership role is, in conjunction with the National President and National Management Council, to develop and deliver a programme of supports for the core work of SVP, and to coordinate and integrate the range of additional activities coordinated by the Society.

REQUIREMENTS

Suitably qualified and interested candidates will be operating at or near Chief Executive standing, capable of leading a large, diverse and voluntary organisation. Core competencies will include leadership, strategic vision, and organisational awareness, coupled with financial acumen, resilience and the ability to contribute at all levels. Candidates must be exceptional communicators with the capacity to passionately engage, inspire, and influence stakeholders in the delivery of the vision of the Society.

A commitment to the core ethos and vision of the Society will be essential.
